So it is 1am right now and I have just managed to upload all the images for this Blog post… I have been ongoing for 12 hours roughly spread over 3 days… I am warning you… this is a HUGE wedding blog – definitely not for the faint hearted… set aside a good 10 minutes as there are over 500 images Ha Ha Ha!!!
well, a little intro: I was contacted by the bride back in August, I believe, last year (2016) and they required a second photographer to accompany the photographer which they had for their wedding coming over from abroad to shoot their wedding and I accepted their offer and I wrote down the date for them. a week or 2 before the wedding happened I got an email from the bride telling me that the photographer would not be making the trip for some personal reason and asked me if I can take over… and sure I did… and called in Therese Debono (she is simply the best! She has such a keen eye for details and the same energy and focus to capture moments with a new approach every time we do it! we understand each other perfectly and along the last couple of years working together on weddings we fine tuned our shooting to optimize for each other’s best artistic expression!) so yeah… Therese was my second photographer on this wedding and luckily she was available! This was a real Philippino Catholic wedding in the heart of Sliema at Balluta Church and we were lucky enough to photograph it. There was also Malcolm Debono From www.maltaweddingfilms.com (you have to check his work if you haven’t already – he is right up there with the top guys in the Island and he is such an awesome fellow to have covering your wedding and enjoy a chat with) and James Abdilla assisting him (no he is not a relative as far as I know of – maybe some 3rd or 7th cousin some way along the line.. who knows… but he is an awesome dude as well who I just love to work with whenever we meet up at a wedding).
Helen Falzon From Jewel Weddings was taking care of all the planning of this awesome wedding – simply transforms every wedding into a fairy tale – no extra frills but real down to earth planning of the whole wedding and even decorations and the whole day running… And such a great person to work with and even a greater person for her clients… And I have to thank Helen for recommending me in the first place for this wedding!!
So Melody (the Bride) and Jonathan (the Groom) got ready at the Corinthia San Gorg were they shared gifts to each other and then headed over to get dressed and head over to the Wedding Mass which happened at Balluta Church in Sliema following an elaborate Ceremony coming all the way from the Philippines – since both Melody and Jonathan are of Philippine descent … around 100 family members and friends flew all the way from the States and the Philippines to celebrate this day with them.
After the Wedding Ceremony we had an hour to spare to take some fun shots rightthere beside the Church and as you can see we had real fun – big thanks to Therese Debono for helping out and suggesting some awesome shots!!
From there we headed back for the reception/dinner at the Corinthia Hotel under the Shadow of the Tower were the Bridal party made their entrance in elaborate and super duper cool moves… and enjoyed welcome drinks and canapes to the tunes of some nice music. Next They all headed for the dinner with the un-missable speeches – cutting of the cake with some spectacular firewoks and then right on to the dance floor where all (young and not-so-young) got to dance to the beat… well it was I think a 10 or 12 hour long wedding and We all enjoyed every second of it.. and Malcolm told me he has footage of me dancing with melody and I am scared to see it – I am not a dancer at all -_- I did not even dance at my own wedding – yeah I am lame… well I am shy… everyone is a fail at something in life … whatever…
The next day I picked up Melody and Jonathan for a little Post wedding Shoot at Mdina… they were a bit late but in reality it worked well in our favour as we had awesome light once the sun set and managed a few nice pictures of which I am proud of.
Enjoy this wedding because it is a blast!!
